With the soundtrack being curated by Kendrick Lamar and featuring a number of hip hop and R&B's biggest stars, Black Panther: The Album promises to be nothing short of great.

The album features big names such as SZA, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Khalid and a whopping 5 tracks from the curator himself, Kendrick Lamar. The inclusion of african sounds is also really appreciated and makes the album that much more interesting. Multiple South African artists (Sjava, Yugen Blakrok, Saudi and Babes Wodumo) are also featured on the soundtrack and it really adds to the authenticity of the african sound.
The album explores many themes such as hardships, romance and there are a few songs that explore being a leader and the responsibility that comes with that, which will probably be given more context within the film. It also incorporates references to the Black Panther movie especially in the opening track, "Black Panther" where Lamar raps from the perspective of the main character.
What sets Black Panther: The Album apart from most soundtracks is that it seems like a stand alone album. All the songs flow cohesively into one another and you can listen to the album in its entirety. I find with soundtracks I tend to choose a few songs off of it and listen to those songs only. This is not the case with Black Panther: The Album.
I really commend Kendrick Lamar for including artists from all over the world to create such a diverse project. Even with all these different sounds nothing sounds out of place and still sounds like a cohesive body of work. This soundtrack has only increased my excitement for the movie and I cannot wait to see how the soundtrack fits with the movie.
