Justin Bieber is back with new single "Yummy"

Once crowned the Prince of Pop after years of dominating the charts, Justin Bieber had a personal dip and took some time off from music. 4 years later he has returned with the lead single from his highly anticipated album.

Yummy is a R&B, slightly trap infused track which has a very straightforward message. The beat is catchy enough and has quite an interesting instrumental however, what is done with this instrumental leaves a lot to be desired. The lyrics are uninspired and not very original. The chorus is repetitive with Bieber simply repeating the word "yummy" over and over again with a few adlibs.

Justin Bieber's vocals are still as smooth and pleasant as always and for that reason it will most likely still get a ton of radio play. However, while no one doubts his ability to sing, the way in which he brings his vocals across sounds bored and uninterested which is basically the words that can be used to describe this track.

Yummy may have fared well as a filler track around the middle of his album's tracklist but as a lead single it is mediocre at best. A great addition to any mindless pop playlist however, I suspect that the only people putting this song on repeat will be die-hard beliebers. Here's hoping the next single is more promising.
