Artist to watch: Billie Eilish

A 15 year old with a new EP "don't smile at me" Billie Eilish is just unapologetically her.

Billie Eilish began writing and singing at an early age, taking after her brother who now co-writes most of her music. Her debut single "ocean eyes" was a huge success and is the song which put her on the map.

Billie focuses on an alternative pop genre. Her voice is clear and calming. At only 15 years old it's amazing to see what she has accomplished on her latest EP. She has a clarity and tone to her voice which gives off the impression that she has been singing for many years. Surprisingly the topics of her songs reaches a depth that I wouldn't expect from someone of her age. Her lyrics are relatively deep and touches on the dark side, something some artists struggle to achieve regardless of age. She also manages to be completely honest in her lyrics and it's clear she is writing from personal experiences.

She comes across a bit strange but that just adds to the image. Her music won't be liked by everyone but those that enjoy the indie genre will definitely find something to love on this EP.

With a debut EP that's this good, a feature on the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack and a growing fan base, I'm sure this won't be the last we hear of Billie. I look forward to seeing how her music grows and develops in the future.
