With jaw-dropping visuals, guest performances, political nods and a talent beyond measure, Beyoncé can officially be crowned as the Queen of Coachella.

History was made on the 14th April 2018 as the very first black woman took the Coachella stage as a headliner. This was just the tip of the iceberg as it was also the first time a girl group performed, it was the most streamed performance and the most tweeted about performance in Coachella's history. This was all due to Beyoncé's massive performance and it was well worth the hype.

Beyoncé went all out with an orchestra, a stage filled with dancers and a number of costume changes. It seemed as though it was Beyoncé's concert rather than a music festival. Her dancers were especially great and she really allowed them to shine during costume changes. Her vocals were crystal clear throughout even though she spent majority of her performance dancing. The acapella renditions of some of her singles were a nice touch especially when the crowd got involved and sang along. I really wished I wasn't watching the performance through a screen at that point.

I enjoyed her more vulnerable moments where she sang "Don't Hurt Yourself" and "I Care". You could really see her pain and anger while singing which was an interesting change of pace from the rest of the set. Basically every single made an appearance on the setlist even if it was just the chorus. This was a great way to keep the crowd focused on the two-hour performance.

One recurring theme of the performance was the empowerment of women and more specifically black women. She asked the women of the crowd, "Are we smart? are we strong? have we had enough?". There were many other references during the performance to black and women empowerment.

Special guests included husband, Jay-Z, her sister, Solange and most notably her Destiny's Child bandmates. Jay-Z appeared for his verse on "Deja Vu". Solange arrived for "Get Me Bodied" which added a fun and personal dynamic to the performance. A highlight of the performance was seeing Destiny's Child reunite on the stage singing a medley of their most popular singles such as "Say My Name" and "Soldier".

A talent like Beyoncé could have simply stepped on the stage and sang but instead Queen B went all out showing everyone exactly why she is considered one of the greatest performers of this generation. During the performance DJ Khaled interrupted to say that Coachella should be renamed to Beychella and I couldn't agree more.
